The first thing that jumps out at me is the error or ’error’ (still to be determined) of the dark brown daubs lying on top, seemingly ’falling out’ of the painting. Looking for error, my mind tuned to finding error first. Then my ego trying to placate itself, saying its an ’error’ not an error, because it will be effortful to fix, and i thought this painting was done; I had closure. To fix it i will need to look at each dark daub, and paint over the edges that transgress with a light daub, so that the dark daub takes its proper place within the illusion, the overall lie. This is not a flower, this is a painted representation, and i have to determine what its function is, what it was made for. This will have a ripple effect on its constitution. Is this a racist painting? Is this painting revealing a subconscious bias for light daubs over dark ones? Ridiculous? I don't know. Maybe. The light daubs are supposed to lie over the dark in this context of light. The light is not in my control. I commit to you now that i will grapple with my racism, it would be nice if you would return the favour.

Confronting Bias
You courageously commit to grappling with your own racism and invite the reader to do the same. This introspection is a crucial step in recognizing and overcoming biases, both in art and in life. Your words serve as a reminder that our creations can reveal our subconscious thoughts and beliefs, and it's essential to examine and learn from them.
