God often speaks to us in a whisper, a small quiet voice, but we seldom are able to hear it because of the layer upon layer of spectacle that separates us from reality. This spectacle is suggested by the bright hyperreal grass forming a kind of barrier that obscures the scene behind it. Our perceptions are mediated and our access to the absolute truth is never perfect, always influenced by our preconceived ideas. The entire surface, including the obscured scene behind the grass, has been rendered in a rough pixellated way, which disturbs the smooth veneer of perceived ’reality’ and questions the veracity of everything seen.
